Merit Insulation Supplies was founded by our former Managing Director and industry expert Nick Pope.  Nick began his venture into the world of insulation in 2001 building his experience and knowledge for over 20 years.  Nick’s tragic and untimely passing in January 2023 has undoubtedly left a hole in the company and the industry furthermore.  However, with unwavering support and hand-on approach from the group’s leadership team we are dedicated to strengthening and stabilising the division. 

To this end we are pleased to announce the appointment of Damien Welch as Managing Director of MIS who brings a wealth of experience and expertise within the construction industry leading teams and building burgeoning relationships with suppliers and customers in order to deliver many successful projects.   Damien shares our steadfast vision to lead the division, maintain stability and deliver service excellence.  Damien will work closely with Ellis Adams-Freeman (Nick’s stepson) who has been elevated to Operations Manager.  Ellis has acquired an abundance of knowledge through the 4 years he has been a part of the MIS team and together they are committed to delivering the ongoing business needs of the HVAC industry with the integrity, expertise and culture that Nick cultivated.  Our core operational team at MIS remains relatively unchanged and has positively welcomed Damien’s experience and commitment to delivering the vision set by Nick.

Our head office in Rochester, Kent has over 400,000 square foot of secure warehousing space ensuring product is always in stock and ready for immediate distribution or collection at any time of the day. 

In March 2023, we were delighted to open our second depot in Dartford provding over 12,000 square foot of warehousing space.  A stone’s throw from the Dartford Tunnel, this additional space has been a great success thus far, with staff settling in well and a large volume of orders being efficiently serviced from there every day as we continue our push for unparalleled service and growth to match that of our valued customers.

In dedication to Nick, the depot has officially been renamed from The Old Powder Mill to Pope Mill, as a lasting tribute to the great man whose vision we are all fully committed to try to achieve in his honour.

Merit operate a FORS Silver accredited fleet of over 80 vehicles enabling the timely delivery of items as well as benefitting from a range of vehicles to suit all types and scales of deliveries.  These include 7.5 ton trucks with tail lifts, Luton Vans with tail lifts; both barn door access and curtain sided, 18 ton lorries and a 26 ton lorry with Moffitt as well as regular transit vans.  We pride ourselves on the flexibility we offer including early morning deliveries and second runs if necessary to ensure working sites can continue uninterrupted throughout the day.  We can provide Saturday morning drops (subject to 24 hour notice with orders placed by the Friday).  We deliver throughout the UK including London and the Home Counties surrounding the M25 and beyond. Overseas deliveries can be accomodated on request . Previous destinations include The Falkland Islands, Ireland and Guernsey to name but a few!
